Tornado's, floods, earthquakes, fires. Just watch the daily news; these things are happening all around us, all the time. So what happens if they happen here, in Ashland City?
What would you do? Where would you turn for help? As a Christian, what would you do to help? Well, that's what Hearts of Hope C.E.R.T. is all about.
In Luke 10:30 Jesus teaches us what it means to be a good neighbor. We aren't to walk by and look on the hardships of others and keep going, we are to be the help they need. In times of crisis, the church needs to be the answers for the world in desperate need. We need to be the Good Samaritan of Luke Chapter 10.
We are active not only in the local community, with outreaches, but have shared the love of Christ with many that are not so local.
in May 2013, Hearts of Hope traveled to Moore, Oklahoma to assist storm victims after a devastating tornado. In the three days we were there, we were able to help many people by cleaning debris, removing unsafe trees, and just trying to be a friend in their time of need. While the work was hard, there was not one member that wasn't affected in a tremendous way. For many, that trip became life changing.
It is our vision to be able to reach people with the Gospel in action by showing the love of Christ in a tangible way. There are many kinds of disasters, and it really doesn't have to be anything as big as a tornado or earthquake. It doesn't have to be a disaster that affects a whole community, maybe just an individual that is in need of help.
Hearts of Hope Community Emergency Response Team needs volunteers and prayers. Whether it be to help with cleanup from a flood, working a first aid station, or handing out water to a first responder, there is a place in this ministry for EVERYONE.
That's right. Everyone! It doesn't take any special training, a strong back, or superior intellect to be a good neighbor.
In telling about the Good Samaritan, Jesus tells us in Luke 10:37 to “go, and do thou likewise.” If Jesus tells us to do it, it's a guarantee he also gives us the ability to do it.
Hearts of Hope will give you the opportunity to help your neighbors when they face their darkest times.
We are active not only in the local community, with outreaches, but have shared the love of Christ beyond the community.
